GenGreen-Sustainability

I am a Co-President of Gen Green, our school’s sustainability club, because taking care of the environment is something that, I believe, needs awareness and action altogether. To me, Sustainability is an idea, yet a responsibility, too-to be really mindful of each and every choice we make and choose those that have less harm on the world outside.

A leader in Gen Green, I help plan, guide, and facilitate projects that encourage our community to think more intentionally about the environment. This includes organizing initiatives, leading discussions, and working with other students in bringing ideas into meaningful action. It is rewarding for me to work with others in finding concrete ways to make sustainability part of everyday school life.

Gen Green has also taught me the value of communication, teamwork, that is involved in making change. It is hard to handle some of the issues involving the globe, but when everyone is working together, things seem more achievable. I learned the value of listening, being organized, and being a responsible leader through the club.

Being involved in Gen Green affects how I consider my involvement in the community. It has inspired me to be more mindful and proactive in giving back. As a Co-President, I hope to promote a community that thinks sustainability in a way that leads others to take an interest in caring for the planet in ways that are both significant and accessible to them.
