Art is one way that I think and make sense of the world. When I create paintings, I have the chance to examine details that might otherwise go unnoticed, like color and mood and small observations that feel important. Painting is a way for me to reflect on and express thoughts that aren’t always easy for me to articulate with words.
I continue my studies in painting as an extra-curricular activity and find that I enjoy pushing myself with new methods and approaches. I see myself as someone who experiments with my own artwork and takes the time to evaluate and conceptualize within my own mind, as opposed to settling on an immediate end result.
Art is also a way for me to reach out to others and give back to my community. I enjoy applying my skills in a voluntary capacity, whether it be at community events or finding ways to donate my artwork at local fundraisers. It has helped me understand the ability of art to bring people together in moments of collective joy.
More importantly, art is something that keeps growing with me. It makes me stay curious, reflective, and open-minded, and it encourages me to keep learning. Through further development in being an artist, I hope to keep the exploration of new ideas and utilize art both as a personal form of expression and something that can do good beyond myself.
